Gloria Bourque Roy was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas. One of seven children,
born of Cajun parents, from the Church Point and Lewisburg, LA areas.
Gloria’s love of Cajun music began at a very early age, listening to “Tee Bruce”
Broussard’s radio show on Saturday afternoon, where she in the late 70’s, had the
privilege of working with him and learning the radio business.
Her parents and close family friends would occasionally go out to some of the local
dancehalls to listen to Andrew Cormier & the Rambling Aces. At the age of 14, finally,
they brought her out to the Rodair Club in Port Acres with a couple of close girlfriends.
“They thought we would hate it, but the joke was on them. We all loved it and from
then on, every Saturday night we were dancing at the Rodair.” Gloria has been married
to Cajun music legend, Dallas Roy for 27 years.
In the early 90’s Dallas and Gloria were instrumental in chartering the Golden Triangle
Chapter of the CFMA, where Gloria served as an Officer, Board Member and on the LeCajun
Committee. During that time, she began producing and broadcasting a Cajun music
radio show “Cajun Express” on Saturday afternoons.
In 2008, she was invited to join a long time friend, Dana Melancon to co-host the
Cajun Express Show that now broadcasts on NASHFM101.7 in Beaumont every Sunday morning.
Gloria is a member of the Gulf Coast Chapter of the CFMA, Texas Rice Festival Chair
for Cajun Night, and donates her time to a variety of events and festivals throughout
the year. She has been recognized by the Texas Rice Festival with a “Lifetime Achievement
Award “ for promoting Cajun music and in 2010 a “Contribution Award” by the Cajun
French Music Association.
She has a Bachelors of Science degree with distinction in Health Services and a Masters
of Business degree from American Institute of Business
